India Market Discovery

Last month, our CEO Sébastien had the pleasure to visit India on a market discovery camp organised by ZHAW, Swiss Leading House South Asia, Swissnex in India and STARTUP CAMPUS. The programme was a tremendous opportunity to explore one of the fastest growing economies in the world, one that is in many ways radically different to European markets.
It was a joy to be part of this cohort of Indian and Swiss entrepreneurs and researchers where new friendships were formed, experiencing India both professionally and personally.
India is growing at an exceptional pace, with a booming economy and a massive need for new infrastructure. India has set out a long-term goal of transitioning from developing-country status in 1947 to a fully developed economy by 2047.
The country is pushing forward with bold national goals—net-zero by 2070, massive renewable energy build-out (500 GW by 2030), rapid electrification, and unprecedented infrastructure development. What stands out is the pace: decisions can be swift, pilots scale quickly when successful, and public–private ecosystems actively welcome new solutions. The ambition is not theoretical; you can feel it on the ground.
The AIT programme in India also provided an amazing view into Indian business culture. Strong emphasis on hierarchy and authority, introductions and long-term relationship building, and practical communication channels. Negotiations tend to be marathon-like rather than fast sprints, and bargaining is expected and appreciated.
We are extremely grateful to the AIT programme for curating this trip and inviting us to be a part of it!
